A case of erotik timidity, on the part of 'old school' Turkish film-makers and commentators...
As we mentioned in Part 2 of Müjde Ar's Steamy Career there's one helluva scene in Dul Bir Kadın involving Müjde Ar (as Suna) and Nur Sürer (as Ayla) -- which seems to clearly indicate a sexual liaison between the two women...
From our vantage point, it appears obvious that something of a carnal nature takes place between Suna and Ayla in the following film clip -- even though the clip includes no explicitly erotic action. It does, however, include an abundance of circumstantial evidence. And, as everyone knows, circumstantial evidence wins court cases.
Have a look at the film clip (below) yourself and see if you don't agree with us... especially in consideration of the supporting evidentiary background material we present, following the clip.

The trio (Ergun, Suna, and Ayla) return to their shared hotel suite after a boozy evening out -- and Ergun (Yılmaz Zafer) is in a foul sadistic mood. He demands that Suna (Müjde Ar) strip naked for him. She begins to bend to his will, but is overcome with shame. Ergun scorns her and cruelly drives Suna into Ayla's waiting arms. Ayla (Nur Sürer) covers Suna's face with kisses, the two embrace half-clad...and the scene fades to black with Suna's question, "Is this love?"

Next morning, when Ergun peeks into Ayla's bedroom -- he discovers the women in a very compromising position, completely starkers...
Is there any doubt that something of a carnal nature transpired between the women during the night?

Now that you've seen the film clip, if you're still unconvinced of our supposition (that Müjde Ar and Nur Sürer 'crossed the line' in Dul Bir Kadın), then consider the following background material cum evidence...
Turkish-film actresses (and actors) who began their careers during (or just before, or just after) the seks furyası era are loath to admit that sexuality played much of a role in their success. Actually... they usually won't even comment about the fact, except to deny it.
To an almost equal extent, that head-in-the-sand attitude is also true of directors, producers, and film historians, et al...who cut their occupational teeth back in the 1960s/1970s/1980s. The few exceptions to this golden-rule-of-denial are all male, god bless 'em -- and include actors Hadi Caman (who passed away in 2008) and Ali Poyrazoğlu, film producer/entrepreneur Kadri Yurdatap, and film historian Cihan Demirci.

The dregs of humanity...

According to the documentary film's unseen female commentator, erotik movie audiences of the 1970s were shiftless, sex-driven, lower-class ne'er-do-wells. And (convention-biased) film historian Agâh Özgüç supports that assessment while explaining the difference between (nice) Arabesk films and (nasty) Erotik films... According to Özgüç, Arabesk films hide sexuality -- are intended for romantic audiences. Erotik films, on the other hand, are openly sensual -- intended for otuz bir çekmeyi yapanlar...

Item: Hülya Avşar (who is best remembered for her sexy leading-lady roles in films like Haram [1983], Sekreter [1985], and Berlin In Berlin [1993]), thought she'd gain public and film industry respect in Turkey when, in 2002, she denied her erotic film-roots -- by opting for a body-double during a nude scene in the film Yeşil İşik (Green Light).
But... surprise! When she subsequently announced the body-double ruse in public (just before the film's release), she got blasted in the press for 'false and belated modesty'. And savvy film-audiences stayed away in droves -- to such a degree that the movie had to be pulled from cinema houses the same week it opened.
